“Marie’s Mission” by the Numbers

On Saturday, August 17th, the Mission distributed 136 Packages (4,080 diapers) of diapers and wipes to 72 families!  We also gave out 23tubes of diaper cream.   Additionally, we welcomed 3 new families this month.

August Extras

We handed out 18 Board Books and 13 packages of Flash Cards. We also distributed 36 Backpacks filled with school supplies.

Our Helpers

Jane and Linda tracked the numbers and handed out packages.  Regine greeted guests and handed out vouchers to our End of Summer Carnival. Father Dave greeted guests and read to the children (Llama, Llama Loves to Read) Louise managed the book table and talked with quests about our “Diaper Time is Talk Time” early reading program. Brenda manned the craft table helping the children make pinwheels, fans and paper plate masks. Father Dave’s father Ken and his stepmother Janet passed out backpacks and helped with the books. Julie brought dozens wonderful homemade cookies and in addition to handing out lots of diapers and keeping the bins full. Mary donated several Backpacks and brought lots of healthy snacks for the children. Bill helped with set up and does most of the “heavy lifting”.

September Plans

The DAR is holding a diaper drive for Marie’s Mission with donations being delivered to their State-wide meeting on September 13, 2019.  September 23-September 29 is “Diaper Needs Awareness Week” Marie’s Mission is supporting a petition to Governor Baker for a Proclamation from the Commonwealth (he has granted them the past three years) and is requesting a proclamation from the City of Worcester.

What we Need

Larger sizes (4, 5, 6,) continue to be our most popular. We gave out 37 packages of size six this month and 29 4T/5T pullups (14 boys and 15 girls)

Marie’s Mission Annual Carnival will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
