Marie’s Mission by the Numbers
On Saturday, April 20th, the Mission distributed 103 Packages (3,090diapers) of diapers and wipes to 50 families! We also gave out 20 tubes of diaper cream. Additionally, we welcomed 5 new families this month.
We distributed small Easter “baskets” with filled plastic eggs, sidewalk chalk, Easter pencils and erasers. With the help of volunteers from the UMass Medical School we distributed board books and flash cards as an ongoing part of the “Diaper Time is Talk Time” program (an early reading program), with material provided by the National Diaper Bank Network. These materials included handouts to have a child name their favorite book.
As usual we had a large group of volunteers turn out for Distribution Day. John Bram and his daughters donated supplies for the children to make bunnies from paper plates and pipe cleaners and a regular big hit, play dough. We are continuing our “volunteer management app” called http://signupgenius.com to help us manage our activities. A second sign-up designed for packing day which will be going out for May.
We will continue our reading program and are planning a Mother’s Day extra for our guests.
What we Need
We gave out gave out 33 packages of size 6 this month. The next closest amount is size 5, with 13 packages. Larger sizes (4, 5, 6, and 7) continue to be our most popular. We did give out 10 packages of size four this month and 14 4T/5T pullups (5 boys and 9 girls)
Fallon Health Community Relations is holding a diaper drive for Marie’s Mission from May 1st through May 10th. In anticipation of increased donations, we have set up a second storage area in Tatro Hall.
